costa rica - the pacific

the pacific - day 7-10
march 15 - 18

we left the morning of the 15th and drove out to pacific and made it just in time to see the sunset on playa cocles.

the pacific side is tropical dry forest. its almost like a desert.

playing with the waterproof case in the tide pools

this is the picture i took

neither francois nor arnaud had ever been in the pacific

what fish see

more fish

here come a whole ton of pictures of fish. these were taken just skin diving.

camouflage was obviously not the point here.

long skinny fish

and lots of coral.

francois and i went diving for the first time. arnaud, after spending some months in martinique, knows how to dive quite well.

sea turtle

guitar shark

a school of fish (and my arm)

eel

bubbles! actually these were really cool to watch i have to admit. mmmm fluid dynamics...

arnaud giving the tumbs up. (an actual thumbs up means go to the surface)

francois and i. because we were only allowed to go to 40ft we didnt go with the other group to see a sunken fishing boat. we got the much better wild life tour though. we also saw a seahorse, octopus, and tons of fish.

wow... who are those stud-muffins at the beach at punta uva?! I love the pictures and I'm glad you got some rain-free weather. Playa del Coco is my SECOND favorite beach, and we all know my favorite... thanks for coming down to visit, I had a great time with you and the boys :). 'Road' trip to Saipan?
